GRAND LODGE
MIXED OF GREECE.

Respect for freedom of conscience, mutual understanding and solidarity, but also mutual tolerance are fundamental conditions of Masonic work.

CO-FREEMASONRY

Co-Freemasonry was founded as a result of the work of Maria Deraismes.

In 1866, an organisation to defend women’s rights was created in France. One of the founders was the writer Maria Deraismes. At a time when feminist organisations were being established, some Masonic Lodges expressed a desire to grant women the rights that had been given to men, including the right of Masonic Initiation. On 14 January 1882, Maria Deraismes was deemed worthy of wearing the Masonic Girdle, and was initiated into a lodge in Le Pecq called “Les Libres Penseurs”.

OUR HISTORY

In Athens in 1926, Greek Freemasons who were inspired by the ancient wisdom of the founders of International Co-Freemasonry, decided to establish a mixed Lodge. The venture was organised in every detail by the “Prometheus 37” Lodge, which shared the fundamental postulate of the mystical science with its members wives and daughters.

On 28 October 1926, “Athena”, the first Mixed Symbolic Lodge in Greece, was founded.

OUR VALUES

Respect for freedom of conscience, mutual understanding and solidarity, but also mutual tolerance are fundamental conditions of Masonic work.

Freemasonry does not set any limits on the search for truth and guarantees complete freedom of thought in every intellectual field. Thus, it does not impose any dogma, placing work above every school of philosophy, every religion and every political position, while unwaveringly following the Laws of the Greek State.

OUR LODGES

The Grand Lodge Mixed of Greece operates in Athens, Volos, Patras, Corfu and Alexandroupoli.

Each Lodge, in accordance with the Charter of the Grand Lodge Mixed of Greece, is autonomous, independent and self-governing, participating in the actions of the federation with corresponding rights and obligations.

The Lodges work on a regular basis according to a schedule drawn up by the Grand Council and the Venerable Master of each Lodge at the end of each Masonic year. The Masonic year begins on the Autum Equinox and ends with the Summer Solstice. Each Lodge works actively to increase the number of links in the Masonic chain.
